This creamy, spiced sweet potato latte tastes like sweet potato pie in a cup!

In the blink of an eye summer turned to fall and soon the weather will be crisp enough to warrant a warming start or end to the day.
Chilly mornings will call for a cup of warmth and that’s when I find myself craving something with a little spice for added heat. With plenty of spicy ginger and cinnamon, this sweet potato latte fits the bill perfectly.

What is a sweet potato latte?
A Korean sweet potato latte (also known as goguma latte) is a caffeine-free drink made from roasted or steamed sweet potatoes, sweetener and frothed milk. It's creamy, sweet and warming.
What kind of sweet potatoes are used in a sweet potato latte?
Either steamed or baked sweet potatoes work for the latte. Traditionally pale yellow-fleshed Korean sweet potatoes are used for making sweet potato lattes and if you can find them I urge you to try them as their flavor is unlike the orange varieties we often use, however since orange sweet potatoes are often easier to find it's what I've called for here.
I also like to add some warming spices like cinnamon, ginger, turmeric and nutmeg for a taste reminiscent of sweet potato pie in a mug that's just right for the fall season.

How to make a sweet potato latte:
- First you'll either roast or steam your sweet potatoes until tender. (You can do this step ahead of time and store the cooked sweet potato in the fridge until needed.)
- Next you'll blend the cooked sweet potatoes with your milk of choice (I use coconut milk), sweetener (I used maple syrup) and spices until smooth and frothy.
- Pour the mixture into a small saucepan to heat and you are ready to serve!
Smooth and silky with a creamy texture it’s a cup of coziness and I can’t think of a nicer way to welcome fall than with this simple, creamy concoction. Enjoy!

Turmeric is such a wonderful spice a I love this milk. My mom used to make plain turmeric and honey milk and it used to work wonderful for a cold. I can't wait to try this out with my boys.
Beautiful pictures as usual.
