A refreshing slushy made with pomegranate, blueberries and matcha tea that boasts a plethora of antioxidants.
These past few months have gone by in such a blur. It’s almost summertime and the promise of picnics on beaches, warm evenings, and crisp glasses of wine enjoyed outdoors fills my mind.
You can’t help but be happy when thinking of summer; the anticipation of it alone has me daydreaming of it all already. The world opens up in the summer; windows and back doors are swung open in hopes of a cool breeze finding its way inside. Everyone seems more relaxed and life slows down. Not to mention the food! Peaches, berries and watermelon will be finding their way to my table shortly.
Until then here’s an utterly thirst quenching berry iced tea slushy to put you in a summertime mood. Both pomegranates and blueberries are known for their antioxidant punch, but add green tea to the mix and you have an unbeatable antioxidant rich summer sipper.
Deeply colored and full flavored, this full bodied purple-blue slush is just slightly sweet and boasts a plethora of nutrients.
The antioxidants found in blueberries, pomegranates and green tea provide support for vital metabolic functions, helping to negate the cumulative damage of oxidative stress to our bodies.
As I’ve mentioned before, eating a wide variety of whole foods provides our bodies with a range of these much needed antioxidants, but green tea is also an excellent source of antioxidants known as catechins, in particular EGCg.
I’ve combined all three in this super simple summer quencher. Sweet blueberries mingle with tart pomegranate juice and grassy Matcha green tea.
If you’ve never had Matcha, it’s a special treat. Made from whole stone-ground tea leaves, it has a light grassy flavor and a bright green color. Its nutritional and antioxidant value exceeds other green teas which makes it the perfect companion to the blueberries and pomegranate juice.
It’s a match made in heaven and an icy cool solution to the summertime heat.

Sylvie says
Hi Amanda, If you have a good tea shop near you they should carry it, and I think I've also seen it at Whole Foods. Otherwise you can order Pure Premium Ceremonial Grade Matcha online at Amazon.

This is seriously gorgeous. I love that you put 2 Tbsp. matcha in here. Pomegranate is like jewelry in the picture and the purple color and blueberry color is such a great mix. Really love this picture a lot. I'm so thirsty after seeing this post, but I'm missing pomegranate in the house to make this right now...arh!
