Impress your guests with this simple yet elegant recipe for baked brie with preserves. Perfect for holiday parties, this easy appetizer is made with a wheel of brie, your choice of preserves, and fresh herbs and nuts.
It’s December and ready or not I’m taking a deep breath and diving head-first into all thing holidays. There will be decorations, gifts, and of course food. The party nibbles, the wintry warming dinners, the sweets and treats and steaming cups of cocoa. But first there’s this baked brie with preserves to talk about.
Baked brie is one of the easiest holiday appetizers you can make. It has all the appeal of a cheese and crackers platter but elevated. It’s simple to prepare and can be popped in the oven just as your guests arrive. Effortless and elegant it’s a guaranteed crowd-pleaser and the kind recipe you’ll find yourself making again and again.
Baked Brie
Baked brie is one of my favorite holiday appetizers because it’s quick to prepare and only requires a handful of ingredients. It’s how you take an average wheel of Brie from good to great. Just pop the Brie into a cast-iron or ceramic baking dish, top with preserves, chopped nuts and herbs and bake to molten perfection. Customize the recipe by using the preserves, nuts and herbs of your choice. Here’s what you’ll need:
Ingredient Notes:
(Here are a few notes about the ingredients you’ll need for this recipe. As always find the full list of ingredients and directions in the recipe card at the bottom of the post.)
- Brie – You’ll need a whole wheel of brie. I like to use goat brie but regular brie works great as well.
- Preserves – You can use any kind of preserves you’d like but some of my favorites are pear, apricot, fig or cherry.
- Nuts – I like to pair walnuts with brie but pecans or pistachios also work nicely.
- Herbs – You’ll need a few sprigs of fresh herbs like thyme or rosemary.
- Fruit and Crackers for Serving – Serve the brie with a variety of fruit such as grapes or sliced apples and pears and your favorite gluten-free crackers and/or bread.

I love cheeses baked like this and the honey and dried fruits and nuts are perfect... I have long planned on doing one myself but have never taken the time. The holidays are the perfect time to do this. I never thought about using Dukkah but I actually brought some home from South Africa! I'll try this now! Stunning photos!

Saw the list and loved seeing Dukkah on it. I think The LA Times called the trend a year or so ago and the market went nuts! 🙂 Great appetizer for the holidays.

Reading this post leaves me waxing nostalgic for Christmases past when it was cold and snow crunched under my feet. We ate dishes that were warm and comforting.
Now it's hotter than I care to describe, stays light until late, Santa wears shorts and drinks beer and cookies and there are few fireplaces for him to crawl down.
So I've learned to embrace cold salads, seafood and chilled desserts for Christmas -- but it's just not quite the same. 🙂
