Ingredient Notes:
(Here are a few notes about the ingredients you’ll need for this recipe. As always find the full list of ingredients and directions in the recipe card at the bottom of the post.)
- Dates – Medjool dates are best here. Their soft sticky texture and sweet caramel-like flavor are perfect for making bliss balls.
- Nuts and/or Seeds – I like to use almonds but you can substitute your favorite nuts or use sunflower seeds for a nut-free version.
- Cocoa Powder – Use your favorite cocoa powder or cacao powder.
- Vanilla – I use vanilla extract but you can also use vanilla bean paste or skip it.
- Nut and/or Seed Butter - I like almond butter here as I think it best compliments the chocolate but feel free to use your favorite nut butter or substitute sunflower seed butter for a nut-free version.

How to Make Chocolate Bliss Balls:
(Here are the basic steps and some helpful tips on how to make the recipe. Find the full directions in the recipe card at the bottom of the post.)
- You start by pulsing together the almonds and cocoa powder in the bowl of a food processor until finely chopped.
- To that you’ll add your dates, almond butter and vanilla and pulse again until you end up with a dough that sticks together and can be rolled into balls. (If you prefer you can also press the mixture into a pan before chilling then cut them into squares.)
- Now you could leave it at that and enjoy your chocolate bliss balls plain or dress them up by rolling them in cocoa powder or chopped almonds, the choice is yours.
- Store them in an airtight container in the fridge for a week or two (if they last that long) and enjoy!
