Soup, it soothes the sick and chases away the cold; a simple dish that offers us warmth and nourishment when we most need it. I find comfort in a bowl of soup. I rarely tire of it and am fairly certain I could eat it every day of the year. In fact, I think I’ve eaten soup everyday this winter.
I know that with spring approaching the “official” soup season will soon be ending, but frankly I see no reason to limit soup to just one season of the year. Who couldn’t use a bowl of comfort all year-round? A bowl of soup is ideal lunch fare and always satisfying. I find myself craving the subtlety and clarity of flavors that a good soup offers for the minimal effort that is required. click to continue reading
I want you to make your own crackers. It’s easy, I promise.
Why crackers? Well, it all started a few weeks ago when I was craving a snack. You see, I have a habit of grazing, which includes on occasion a forkful of leftovers straight from the fridge, or a quick snack contentedly consumed while standing over the sink. I like to think of them as little happy mouthfuls on the spur of the moment that make life more pleasant. That day I wanted a something crunchy; a cracker, and when you’re craving a cracker nothing else will do.
The crunch and crumble of a good cracker is a joyful thing whether paired with a slice of cheese, dipped in a bowl of warm soup or enjoyed on its own. The thought of them was so thoroughly engrossing it propelled me into a determined quest to create just the right ones to satisfy my craving. click to continue reading
Could burnt toast be a thing of the past?
After a decade in development, it looks like the answer is yes, thanks to Magimix’s Vision Toaster. Magimix has solved the age old problem of burnt toast by creating the first transparent toaster currently on the market.
The idea of creating a toaster that allows you to monitor your bread while toasting is a simple one, but one that took many years of research and testing to perfect. With its insulated glass windows, the Magimix Vision Toaster boasts an innovative design and incredible good looks, but its functionality is what makes this toaster stand apart from the rest.
I must admit I’m undecided about Valentine’s Day. I assure you I have nothing against celebrating love; it’s just a holiday fraught with pressure, a test to prove how in love you are, or how romantic you can be, not to mention the aspect of forced sentimentality on one arbitrary day of the year.
Now, on the other hand, the idea of honoring and being grateful for the love in our lives appeals to me very much, I’m just not into all the hoopla. For me a quiet dinner is just fine, or better yet, a cozy evening at home with my favorite way to celebrate – chocolate. click to continue reading
I’ve always been one for hot beverages. You’ll often find me with a hot cup of tea to keep my hands warm and ward off the cold weather. Hot cocoa and warm milk are favorites of mine as well, helping to settle and cajole me to sleep at night.
The milks I drink most often these days however are nut and coconut milk as they are easier on my stomach. But I still have a deep seated fidelity to the comforts that hot spiced milk of any kind can bring on a cold winter night.
I had been meaning to update my photography portfolio last year but one day turned into another, life moving along at its usual hurried pace, and the idea was quietly set aside for another time.
As chance would have it, at the start of this year I received an email from a friend with whom I had discussed the idea and it got me moving again. “What better way to start off 2012?” I thought to myself and so I dove into the project. I hit a few road bumps along the way, as is always the case, but it came together fairly quickly and I’ve been excitedly waiting to share it with you all.
