My 7 Links Challenge | A Look Back

You may have already come across the 7 Links Challenge by now. The premise is simple – to highlight 7 past posts in different categories and share a little about why you chose each one.  Problogger and TripBase have both challenged their readers to take part in the project and it has been going around the internet for some time.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve had great fun reading some of my favorite blogs as they accepted and answered the 7 Links Challenge. It’s an interesting exercise in self-examination, offering readers a look into how each blogger views her/his own work. I found the challenge fascinating and discovered many wonderful posts that I had missed.

My friend Jeanne at Cook Sister nominated me when she did her retrospective which means it’s now my turn to take part in the challenge.

The Rules:

  1. Blogger is nominated.
  2. Blogger posts his/her 7 links – 1 link for each category.
  3. Blogger nominates 5 more bloggers to take part.
  4. These bloggers publish their 7 links and nominate another 5 bloggers.
  5. And so on and so on….

The Categories:

Not being one to leave well enough alone, I took the liberty of adapting the 7 links just a bit.  As there were two versions of categories floating around I combined the two and added my two cents.

  1. Your most searched post.
  2. A post which had a great discussion or response.
  3. A post you enjoyed writing the most.
  4. Your most helpful post.
  5. A post the success of which surprised you.
  6. Your most beautiful post.
  7. A post you feel didn’t get the attention it deserved.

This week I will be sharing my 7 links starting today with #1: Your most searched post.

#1 Most Searched for Post – Fresh Mint Tea | A Nice Cuppa

fresh mint tea image

This is a post that continues to get consistent views through search engines.  In it I shared my nightly ritual of making a fresh herbal tea, most often mint.

As I said in the post, it’s a vital moment of calm and comfort before turning in for the night. It makes me smile to think of everyone out there who may be ending their days in the very same way – with a hot cup of herbal tea.

If anyone else has taken part in the 7 Link Challenge, please post links to your own entries in the comments so we can all take a look.

I love the way you decided to play the game Sylvie; one category a day. Brilliant idea!
I have also taken part in this challenge and I agree with you in that it’s an interesting exercise in self-examination. It gives you a chance to reflect on the work you’ve done so far. Here’s my own 7 links

Mint tea has such an amazing flavor. No wonder it is your most searched for recipe.
I’m looking forward to your next 6 links!

I’m actually quite surprised that this is your most popular post- I thought it may be the beatiful truffles that everyone searches for! Looking forward to the next 7 days.

I just discovered you blog, and you re-post about your night habit of drinking tea, which is something I do every night since my days of college in the 80’s! I can’t go to bed without my mint tea! I am going to read the post now…..

I am seeing this game over the net a lot these days and enjoying every bit of it 🙂 I like how you decided to share each in different posts .. it’s like creating a suspense 🙂

Cool! What fun, especially since I’m a relatively new follower. I learned early-on that it can be hard to predict which posts will be most popular. The number of comments can also be deceiving when compared to actual statistics.

Sometimes it’s hard to predict which post will be the most popular. For me, it was hands-down a post that someone kindly posted on stumbleupon!

I don’t know why I am surprised that this is your most searched post, I guess I think of all the sweet desserts as being the most popular. But it’s lovely to know that people are looking for a relaxing drink like this. The picture is just beautiful!

oh I was planning to do mine later this week as well but your idea is so cool. Mint Tea ha! But then internet is so random and always full of surprises. And people are always really looking for basic recipes from a pro and you certainly are one 😉

I’m surprise and not so suprised that is one of your most popular posts. I”m not surprised because tea is universal in terms of a drinking product, but it drinking tea is such an everyday comfort ritual. Now I’m surprised because you would think something like, Sukaina mentioned, your truffles would be a bigger draw. Although that is coming from someone who consumes sugar like a major food group.

I find it fascinating that a simple cup of tea is your biggest pull! Isn’t that amazing? How many people are looking for that calm? I have been nominated and must start looking back through my posts which is a daunting task at bestç Now on my way to going through yours…

aaaah, I’ve been looking forward to seeing your 7 links 🙂 We actually spoke about how this mint tea post was your most searched for at the Plate to Page workshop this weekend – which reminded me I still had to come and read your 7 links :o) As you know, I’ve already done mine:
