Le Creuset Enameled Cast Iron Skillet Review and Giveaway
Like many cooks, I’ve long banished Teflon and non-stick coated cookware from my home due to the associated health risks. The risks just outweighed the benefits for me, especially when safer alternatives existed. The problem was many of those alternatives did not produce the same results or required extra care.
As much as I love my stainless steel cookware it does stick; that’s just the nature of stainless steel. Carbon steel and cast iron are other alternatives but they require proper seasoning before they can be used, and can’t be washed with soap, soaked overnight, or left to air dry.
So I was very happy to be given the chance to review Le Creuset’s Enameled Cast Iron Skillet. The beauty of enameled cast iron is that it gives you all the benefits of cast iron with none of the fussiness.
Made in France, Le Creuset enameled cast-iron cookware has been a favorite in kitchens around the world for decades. Virtually indestructible, I found that its enameled cast iron skillet performs well under various heat sources including on the stove top, in the oven and under the broiler.
It needs to be heated slowly, but retains heat well and cooks food quickly and evenly. The uniform heating yields great results without the use of excess butter or oil.
It’s a heavy duty pan with a sturdy iron handle, but you need to take care to wear an oven mitt when handling because it does get hot. A nice detail is the grip opposite the handle which allows you to distribute the weight of the pan between both hands.
The non-reactive black satin interior finish does not require any seasoning and can be cleaned with soap and water. Available in a range of vibrant colors this pan goes easily from stove-top or oven to table.

5qt oval french oven in cherry
My favorite piece to acquire would be a braiser, however any would be welcomed to my kitchen and used frequently.
I would LOVE a 13 1/4 quart round French oven, but I’d put this skillet to use for sure!

I’ve been curious about this cookware for a long time, so hoping to win this giveaway. I went to the Le Creuset website to take a look at all of their items and colors. I would really love to have the 3 1/2 Qt Braiser, but would have a hard time choosing between the cherry and the colbalt.
